E-Reader, the Amazon Kindle, has seen some success in the US, with founder Jeff Bezos quoting sales are already at 35 percent of the same books in print – just 18 months after launch. By any standard, that is rather impressive…
Whether you’ll be snapping one up or not, you should get your chance in time for Christmas, when the Kindle is likely to be available to UK shoppers.
Mobile reports that Amazon is in discussions with a UK mobile operator, and says the company has outsourced all aspects of manufacturing for the Kindle in the UK to Qualcomm, a wireless telecommunications research and development specialist who offer a range of services and will deal with all aspects of manufacturing the Kindle for the UK market including securing connectivity with an mobile operator.
Discussions with potential partners, including Vodafone, Orange and 3, have reportedly collpased but agreements with book publishers have already been made, and is in the process of negotiating with news and magazine publishers in the UK over digital reproduction rights.
Vodafone is launching its own version of the Kindle in Germany, while Orange is working on an ebook in its domestic French market.

Bit of fun,The Mobile Web on 14 Jul
For some unknown reason, the guys at iSoft decided to take the time to see if they could get windows 95 and XP running on the iPhone. We’re quite glad they did because although there’s very little point to it, it at least gives us the opportunity to show our teenage readers what a real operating system is all about.
The hack makes use of a standard Windows 95 image and the Bochs emulator, though as you can expect, the performance is awful.
Warning: for some, this might a rather nauseating experience:

Bit of fun on 20 May
According to a survey conducted by data security company Credant, 25% of all Brits use laptop or mobiles in bed.
57 per cent of bed workers work in there for “between 2 and 6 hours every week,” and it should come as no surprise that “their bed companions found their partners’ obsession with their mobiles ‘a very annoying habit’.”
“A staggering 8% of people admitted that they spend more time on their mobile devices during the evening than talking to their partners!”
The survey was based on the responses of just 300 city workers however, so the results are likely to a little skewed.
What are your nightly or morning rituals? Do you pull out your iPhone, mobile or laptop minutes before or after sleep?

Anyone with a son aged between 8 and 14 will appreciate this. Whatever did they do before XBox and Playstation?
